It&#8217;s unclear if the two cybersecurity incidents are connected as the investigation is still ongoing, the county wrote on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cClark County takes the security of our network and data very seriously,\u201d Otto said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/clark.wa.gov\/county\/county-determines-suspicious-network-activity-result-sophisticated-cyberattack\">release on Friday<\/a>. \u201cAs soon as we discovered the suspicious activity, we took steps to confirm the security of the county network and launched an investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The county <a href=\"https:\/\/clark.wa.gov\/county-manager\/clark-county-investigating-suspicious-activity-countywide-network\">first became aware<\/a> of the most recent suspicious activity on the countywide network on Oct. 21. The attack disrupted some parts of the county&#8217;s website and some services. <a href=\"https:\/\/clark.wa.gov\/county\/county-working-outside-forensic-consultant-suspicious-network-activity\">Shortly after the discovery<\/a>, the county began working with an outside forensic consultant to investigate the incident, officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An investigation is still underway to determine the nature and scope of potentially impacted data, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/clark.wa.gov\/communications\/news-updates\">FAQ page regarding the attack<\/a>. However, there has been no indication of employee or resident information being affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The county\u2019s Property Information Center and Geographic Information Services were not accessible when the attack was first discovered last month.\u00a0The attack also briefly caused delays in the county\u2019s ability to make changes to the statewide voter-registration system, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.columbian.com\/news\/2023\/nov\/17\/clark-county-says-october-security-breach-was-a-cyberattack-no-indication-personal-data-was-stolen\/\">The Columbian<\/a> reported.
