She said the state is also planning next year to publish an AI-powered website where citizens check their eligibility for state services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFrom an AI perspective, what we\u2019re doing is leveraging the tools and the technologies in order to help build efficiencies for the state,\u201d Gateff said. \u201cWe\u2019re leveraging doc AI from the Google Cloud perspective where we will be able to build out reporting and analytics dashboards, really technology we haven\u2019t been leveraging before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Such use of computer vision and machine-learning algorithms is in line with state government&#8217;s traditional use of artificial intelligence software, which can be traced back decades. More recently, some states have <a href=\"https:\/\/scoopmedia-develop.go-vip.net\/statescoop\/state-government-generative-ai-uses\/\">taken an interest in generative AI tools<\/a>, an emerging class of technologies popularized by last year&#8217;s launch of ChatGPT, though Gateff didn&#8217;t mention generative AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gateff said Oklahoma&#8217;s roadway signage project uses AI to track changes from year to year, shortening the time it would take a human to do manual comparisons and enabling the government to fix signs that may have fallen or become damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnywhere there\u2019s a highway, anywhere there\u2019s a state street, then we are looking at that from a signage perspective,\u201d Gateff said. \u201cFrom a state employee perspective, it\u2019s all about the efficiencies, 100% about the efficiencies that we\u2019re able to gain from this because it\u2019s going to take so much less time for them to bridge the gap.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gateff on Tuesday sat on a panel during Scoop News Group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/googlepublicsectorforum.upgather.com\/?__hstc=188609527.306abdd3f7f4932493c413ebd326e90e.1693401627621.1697562765037.1697567903365.44&amp;__hssc=188609527.5.1697567903365&amp;__hsfp=3421363042\">Google Public Sector Forum<\/a> in Washington D.C., where she discussed the web project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur state landing page, where we\u2019re actually providing access to services for citizens and bridging a gap between [a resident] who has no idea what services are available to her in the state of Oklahoma,\u201d Gateff said during the panel. \u201cSo having a centralized citizen experience is really critical to us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said the portal would allow people to see the state services they&#8217;re using and find and receive associated resources recommended by AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gateff said the new projects are supported by an AI task force Gov. Kevin Stitt <a href=\"http:\/\/oklahoma.gov\/governor\/newsroom\/newsroom\/2023\/september2023\/governor-stitt-announces-ai-task-force.html\">ordered last month<\/a>.
