{"id":25853,"date":"2025-06-02T07:53:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T11:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scoopmedia-develop.go-vip.net\/edscoop\/?p=25853"},"modified":"2025-06-01T19:53:29","modified_gmt":"2025-06-01T23:53:29","slug":"usc-ethics-trust-computing-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scoopmedia-develop.go-vip.net\/edscoop\/usc-ethics-trust-computing-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"USC launches Ethics &amp; Trust in Computing Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The University of Southern California <a href=\"https:\/\/today.usc.edu\/usc-launches-12-million-institute-on-ethics-trust-in-computing\/\">last week launched<\/a> a new institute designed to enhance research, promote ethical use of technology and fund the next big ideas in artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Institute on Ethics &amp; Trust in Computing is a $12 million program, led in funding by the the Lord Foundation of California, where \u201cexperts will offer ethical guidance and resources to students and researchers on the development and applications of artificial intelligence and other technologies that are now commonplace across business and finance, health care, national security and science,\u201d according to USC Today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUSC is the place for innovation, with the interdisciplinary reach and expertise to drive advancements in computational science that benefit humanity,\u201d USC President Carol Folt said in a statement. \u201cEthics must always remain at the center, and this important new institute guides future scientists to think deeply about the impact of their work. I\u2019m grateful to the Lord Foundation for their foresight and support during this pivotal moment when AI is revolutionizing computing and society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program is intended to further the university president\u2019s $1 billion Frontiers of Computing moonshot initiative, which is designed to seed new technological research.
